Feb 05, 2016 (newstodate): Russia's charter carriers are facing grim prospects in 2016 after a disastrous year 2015.
The full stop for charter flights to Turkey and Egypt, the decline of the Russian Ruble and a general darkening of the economy forces Russians to increasingly settle for domestic holidays rather than sunny adventures abroad.
The country's largest charter carrier Nord Wind, mainly serving Pegasus Turistik, has thus downsized its fleet from 31 to 12 aircraft after seeing its volume of flights down by 2/3, and another leading charter carrier, I Fly, serving Tez Tour primarily, has let go three of its formerly seven Boeing 757 aircraft after seeing flight volumes down by 1/3.
