May 31, 2016 (newstodate): Delegations from Germany and Russia will today start a three-days meeting in Moscow on traffic rights.
The negotiation will thus take place in a most complicated geopolitical environment not exactly contributing to a positive outcome although both sides would need a fresh impetus to develop their air cargo industries.
The German side would need more overflight rights for Lufthansa Cargo through Russia's Siberian airspace and accept of AeroLogic's position as 2nd designated cargo carrier relieving it of the burden to apply for individual ad-hoc permissions for flights through Russian airspace.
The Russian side is requesting primarily more 5th Freedom rights in Germany for Transatlantic flights by ABC and other carriers.
