Jul 26, 2016 (newstodate): The Norwegian LCC Norwegian is to tap into new markets by ordering new long-range narrow-body Airbus aircraft to its fleet.
The carrier has decided to convert 30 of the orders placed in 2012 for delivery of 100 Airbus A320neo aircraft to Airbus A321neo Long Range aircraft.
Compared to the operations with larger Boeing 787 wide-body aircraft, the A320neo LR will provide the carrier with capacity to serve thinner long haul routes within a range of up to some 4,000 miles, thus connecting smaller destinations with long haul services.
Deliveries of the A321neo LR aircraft will start from 2019 with eight aircraft, followed by the remaining 22 aircraft during 2021-2022.
Norwegian also holds orders for 19 Boeing 787-8 and 19 Boeing 787-9 aircraft.
