Aug 30, 2016 (newstodate): Finnair Cargo has decided to replace its current provider of cargo terminal handling at Helsinki Airport, selecting HUB logistics as its terminal operator from December 2016.
Finnair Cargo is scheduled to open its new 37,000 square meters COOL Nordic Cargo hub at Helsinki Airport in May 2017, and will work with HUB logistics to ensure a smooth transition and optimized usage of the new automated terminal.
The transition from the current terminal operator, Suomen Transval Oy, will be carried out as a transfer of business, which means that the Transval employees working in the Finnair Cargo terminal at Helsinki Airport will transfer to HUB logistics.
Finnair first outsourced its cargo terminal handling at Helsinki Vantaa Airport from December 1, 2009, contracting Suomen Transval Oy that took over all existing Finnair Cargo terminal staff.
Finnair has invested 80 million euros in building a new cargo terminal at Helsinki Airport, with special cargo handling areas for pharmaceutical and life science products as well as perishable products, including fish and seafood.
