Jan 20, 2017 (newstodate): The Russian nationwide air taxi company Dexter is fighting for survival.
Set up in 2006, the carrier performed its first flight in June, 2006, offering taxi flights on a route network comprising Moscow-Nizhniy Novgorod, Nizhniy Novgorod-Samara, Kazan-Samara, and Nizhniy Novgorod-Kazan.
From June, 2008, the carrier was licensed to offer international flights as well, adding services to Finland, the Baltic region and the CIS states to Russian flights, and the the Moscow-based air taxi carrier placed orders for a total of 13 Pilatus aircraft, with options for a further 10.
The carrier's commercial license has however been limited to expire by February 21, 2017, due to doubts over its financial performance as the government terminated the transport subsidy programs in the Volga Federal District on which much of the carrier's operations depend.
Dexter has now announced that it plans to publish a new scheduled services program that will decide the future of the carrier.
Behind the Dexter carrier are Air Transport Systems, the fleet owner based in Nizhniy Novgorod, and Moscow-based Air Management Group, the fleet operator.
