Jan 20, 2017 (newstodate): Since the turn of the year, Singapore Airlines Cargo has become off-line with freighter services in Scandinavia.
After decades with Copenhagen Airport as its Scandinavian freighter hub, Singapore Airlines Cargo performed its last freighter call at Copenhagen Airport by the end of December, after having been operating up to five weekly Boeing 747-400 freighters between Singapore and Copenhagen at its peak.
With the suspension of the Scandinavian freighter service, Singapore Airlines Cargo is now selling its products in the Nordic markets including trucking to the carrier's freighter hubs at Amsterdam, Brussels and London.
-We are of course seeing a slight decrease in volumes during this phase, but our allotments on the freighters at Amsterdam are almost unchanged and for forwarders in the Swedish, Norwegian and Finnish markets it makes little difference if they truck their shipments into Copenhagen or into the three European freighter hubs, says Mike Andersen, Singapore Airlines Cargo Operations Manager Nordic at Copenhagen Airport and with the company since 1988.
All Nordic operations are managed from the office in Copenhagen that also manages cargo sales in Denmark, Norway and Sweden, while sales in Finland are in the hands of HWF as cargo GSSA for Singapore Airlines Cargo.
