Oct 25, 2017 (newstodate): Entering its 94th year of operation in good shape, Finnair is spreading its wings further in winter 2017/18, with the opening of a number of new seasonal routes.
The carrier is thus to launch flights to Goa, India on November 1, to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico on November 5, to Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic on November 30, and to Havana, Cuba on December 1, 2017.
During the winter season, Finnair will thus be serving flights to 20 intercontinental destinations, as well as to over 100 destinations in Europe.
In the schedule for this winter, Finnair will offer 16 weekly flights to Bangkok, 14 weekly flights to Tokyo Narita as joint business with Japan Airlines, 10 weekly flights to Hong Kong, seven weekly flights to Seoul, Beijing, Shanghai, Singapore and New York JFK, six weekly flights to Delhi, five weekly flights to Osaka and Nagoya, three weekly flights to Chongqing, Phuket and Miami, two weekly flights to Goa, Havana and Krabi, and one weekly flights to Puerto Vallarta, Puerto Plata and Ho Chi Minh City.
The first phase in Finnair's extensive long-haul fleet renewal was completed towards the end of September, when the 11th A350 aircraft joined the Finnair fleet, and eight additional A350s will be delivered between 2018 and 2023.
In this year's 1st quarter, Finnair's passenger revenue, ancillary sales, cargo and travel services all grew at double-digit rates, and to support the sustained growth in traffic Finnair is taking in about 1,000 new employees.
