Oct 09, 2017 (newstodate): Cargo volumes through Norway's Oslo Airport are growing fast as the country's seafood exports are increasingly lifted out of Oslo Airport rather than trucked into other airports.
The latest figures from August 2017 show an increase by 44 percent, y-o-y, to a total of 14,820 tonnes, of which 13,978 tonnes are international cargo.
The statistics are, unfortunately, not providing information on the import/export ratio.
Mail volumes are also rising up 10 percent in August, to 20,028 tonnes of which 611 tonnes are international mail that is up 50 percent, probably reflecting the increase in e-trade import shipments.
During January-August 2017, Oslo Airport has thus handled 105,565 tonnes of cargo, up 42 percent, and 14,396 tonnes of mail, also up four percent, y-o-y.
Together, the cargo and mail volumes reached 119,960 tonnes, which is 36 percent more than in 2016.
