Oct 23, 2017 (newstodate): The Latvian carrier airBaltic is soon returning services to Abu Dhabi, with the first flight on October 29, 2017.
In cooperation with Etihad, the carrier will offer four weekly rotations on the six hours and 15 minutes long flight from Riga Airport using Bombardier CS300 aircraft.
This is the second time Abu Dhabi is put on airBaltic's route map as the carrier launched services four times weekly from Riga Airport already from December 16, 2013, using an Airbus A319 on an ACMI contract with the Czech carrier CSA as airBaltic's own Boeing 737 aircraft would require an en-route refueling stop on the return trip, making the operation unprofitable.
The operation was, however, suspended after only one year.
