Oct 13, 2017 (newstodate): Latvia's Riga Airport continues to enjoy rising cargo volumes in 2017, with September's statistics pure "Turkish delight".
A total of 2,519 tonnes of cargo was handled at the airport, a hefty increase by 59.9 percent, y-o-y.
During January-September 2017 the airport has thus handled a total of 17,055 tonnes of cargo which is 15.9 percent more than in 2016.
However impressive the growth, it remains a far cry from the record year 2013 when a total of 5,523 tonnes of cargo was handled in September, an increase by 123.2 percent, y-o-y.
The current positive growth at Riga Airport is due to the launch of Turkish Cargo's two weekly Airbus A330-200F rotations between Istanbul and Riga Airport from July 1, 2017.
