Oct 25, 2017 (newstodate): Ukraine International Airlines is planning for a return of services on the route connecting Kiev and Copenhagen.
Starting from April 25, 2018, the carrier will be offering nine weekly rotations on the route operated with Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
UIA earlier planned for launch of services by April 2, 2013, already, but cancelled the operation before start.
From October 31, 2010, the route was served by another Ukrainian carrier, Aerosvit that first operated the route under a code-share agreement with now-defunct Cimber Sterling, and from April 1, 2012 with own services using Embraer 190 aircraft.
Aerosvit, however, ended in dire straits, one of its aircraft was arrested at Copenhagen Airport in January 2013, and its European routes were transferred to UIA.
Since 2012, there has thus been no direct flights connecting Kiev and Copenhagen until summer 2017 when Wizz Air launched flight on the route with three weekly rotations.
While Wizz Air operates into Kiev Zhuliany Airport, Ukraine International Airlines operates at Kiev Boryspil Airport where passengers may transfer to the carrier's Asian destinations including Bangkok, Beijing and Colombo, with Delhi to be added from May 1, 2018.
