Nov 10, 2017 (newstodate): On November 8, 2017, Finland's Competition and Consumer Agency approved Finnair's acquisition of the remaining shares in Nordic Regional Airlines AB.
With the transaction, Finnair is the now sole owner of Norra Airline - but not for long...
Plans are to to find a new majority shareholder in Norra, divesting of the ownership in the regional carrier entirely.
Norra is the successor of Flybe Nordic, set up as a JV between Finnair and FlyBe in November 2011 after buying the Finnish carrier Commuter Airlines.
The JV did not last long, however, and in May 2015 Finnair took over FlyBe's 60 percent of the stake in the JV, later re-selling this stake to new owners Staffpoint Holding and Kilco.
In the fleet of Norra are 12 ATR 72-500 and 12 Embraer 190LR aircraft operating on Finnair's domestic and European route network.
