Nov 08, 2017 (newstodate): According to a Turkish media Airporthaber, the Hungarian LCC Wizz Air is close to striking a deal with the Turkish airline Borajet.
If the story holds, Wizz Air will take 49 percent of the shares in privately-owned Borajet and establish a new carrier trading as Wizz Air Turkey.
According to the same source, Wizz Air will allocate five Airbus A321 aircraft to the Turkish company that will be based at Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen Airport for flights on a domestic and international network.
Borajet launched flights in 2010, but on 24 April 2017, Borajet announced the temporary suspensions of operation.
The airline stated maintenance issues as a reason for this move and planned to resume services again in 2018.
Also in 2017, the Turkish state arrested seven of the carrier's eight Embraer aircraft, effectively grounding the carrier.
