Nov 15, 2017 (newstodate): The Norwegian Seafood Council is strengthening its presence in a booming Asian market: South Korea.
The council has named its first-ever seafood market project manager for South Korea- Melissa Gotliebsen, already based in Seoul, to boost the exploitation of the market potentials in the country.
Already now, South Korean consumers are ranked highest in per-capita consumption of seafood, and the growth potentials are expected to be around 10 percent till 2020, further strengthening the importance of the market for Norway's seafood exports primarily consisting of salmon and crabs as well as pelagic fish.
Korean Air Cargo has been serving the Norwegian market with freighter operations from Oslo to Seoul since March 9, 2003, and second freighter operator to fly on the route is DHL using an Atlas Air Boeing 747-400F aircraft with the first flight on September 8, 2017, from Oslo Airport to Seoul, continuing to Shanghai.
