Nov 07, 2017 (newstodate): In October 2017, Finnair handled a total of 15,378 tonnes of cargo, a strong increase by 15.1 percent, y-o-y.
Loads on the Asian lanes developed especially strongly with an increase by 16.2 percent to 10,306 tonnes, the N Atlantic flights generated 881 tonnes, up 30.2 percent, while the European traffic remained low, increasing only 2.4 percent to 2,478 tonnes in October.
Cargo on the three weekly freighter flights between Helsinki and Brussels, operated by DHL, as well as cargo space rented on Japan Airlines' daily flights between Tokyo and Helsinki was up 31.6 percent, y-o-y, to 1,651 tonnes.
October 2017 is however the last month with Finnair's management of the cargo capacity on Japan Air Lines' passenger flights from Helsinki to Tokyo as JAL Cargo has appointed the Dutch cargo company J-Air bv as GSSA for sales of the cargo capacity on the daily Boeing 787-8 service starting from November 1, 2017.
During the first 10 months of this year, Finnair has generated a total of 131,521 tonnes of cargo, an increase by 6.8 percent, y-o-y, and including 84,987 tonnes of cargo on the Asian lanes, up 9.2 percent, y-o-y.
