Nov 22, 2017 (newstodate): With only one month featuring air cargo growth in 2017, Estonia's Tallinn Airport is facing a bleak full-year cycle.
Only January 2017 produced positive figures, with a one-off growth by 72.2 percent, y-o-y, while eight other months produced two-digit decreases.
October 2017 proved no exception, with a drop by 12.8 percent, y-o-y, to 969 tonnes including 198 tonnes of mail that is alone in showing sustained, albeit modest growth.
In January-October 2017 Tallinn Airport has thus seen volumes down by 15.7 percent, to a total of 8,945 tonnes.
More optimism is found in the airport's passenger traffic where this year's total volumes are now expected to be around 2.6 mio, with October showing a growth by 22 percent, y-o-y, to 256,993 passengers.
The volume of aircraft operations is also on the rise, increasing 17.5 percent in October - but traffic is only by smaller aircraft up to Boeing 737/Airbus A320 with limited cargo capacity.
