Dec 14, 2017 (newstodate): Moscow's Ramenskoye Zhukovsky Airport has ambitions to become a gateway for Chinese traffic to Russia.
As a start, the Russian carrier Pegas Fly, earlier named Ikar has launched traffic on a route between Zhukovsky and Jinan, in China, initially with two weekly rotations, with plans for adding flights to another eight destinations in China from spring 2018, including Guangzhou, Xian, Chengdu, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Xinzheng, Ningbo and Taiyuan.
Pegasus Fly performed its first flight on December 11, 2017, and by the start of the summer schedule the carrier will have more than 10 weekly rotations using Boeing 767-300 aircraft on its routes between Zhukovsky and the destinations in China.
Based at Krasnoyarsk, Pegas Fly operates a fleet comprising six Boeing 767-300 and two Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
Ramenskoye Zhukovsky Airport was officially opened for traffic from March 15, 2016, with two runways, one of which is the longest in Europe - 5,400m.
