Dec 22, 2017 (newstodate): The project for a new dedicated seafood terminal at Oslo Airport are progressing, albeit the process is running a bit behind the original schedule.
-Rest assured that the project is very much alive, and we expect to be able to present fresh details in the first quarter of the new year, says Martin Langaas, Avinor Director Cargo.
-The crucial precondition for realizing the Avinor Seafood Terminal is of course finding investors to back the project. And we have indeed met with an overwhelming interest among investors.
-We have decided to seek investors not among real estate investors but financial investment companies, and the response has been impressive - by far surpassing our expectations. And once the issue of investments is signed and sealed, the project will move on to its next, concrete phase, and details on this will thus be announced in Q1, says Mr Langaas.
The existing plans announced earlier this year comprise the construction of a new terminal capable of handling up to 300,000 tonnes of seafood shipment, building on cooperation with investors, partners in the seafood industry and providers of seafood air logistics.
Avinor has contracted the Norwegian financial services provider Pareto Securities as consultant to the project, and has held a series of talks together with Avinor Pareto with potential investors.
According to the project schedule earlier published, construction works on the new facility will start in January 2019, with the final commissioning of the airfreight seafood center slated for Q4, 2020.
