Dec 12, 2017 (newstodate): The leading Norwegian aircraft broker Aircontact reports 2017 as the company's third-best year since the formation in 1962, and only slightly below last year's level.
-We have added one more staff at our office in Norway and are currently seeking applicants for a new position as Aircontact Country Manager Sweden, says Christian Juul Moller, Aircontact Manager Special Charters, ACMI & Cargo.
-While we are already covering the Danish market through our Danish colleague Claus Airvin at our office in Oslo, potentials for growth remain in the Swedish market which will however require a local presence. We thus expect to add one additional staff at Stockholm bringing our total work force to 10 by next year.
-The passenger charter segment is today our largest business area with a wide range of customers and tenders in as well as outside Europe.
-We are active also in the cargo segment that has, however, decreased since the end of the many military orders during and in the wake of the activities in Afghanistan. Today, cargo contract are largely coming from the maritime industries' needs for urgent transport of spares as well as from the oil and gas industries that are, however, also at moderate levels in today's environment.
-Another novelty is that we have joined a unique cooperation between air brokers, Alpha Charlie 3, Air Charter Consultants Circle, set up in 2014. Currently seven members now cooperate without any ownership relations but providing mutual assistance and sharing of market information, and allowing for local representation in handling of specific operations at locations where we are not ourselves present.
-In short, 2017 has been another good year, and we enter 2018 with a number of contracts closed and with a special focus on adding even more new business in the Swedish market, says Mr Moller.
