Dec 13, 2017 (newstodate): Latvia's Riga Airport will see the opening of a new route connecting to Georgia, in the Caucasus region.
Wizz Air is thus to launch services on the new route between Riga and Kutaisi, at Georgia's Black Sea coast, from March 25, 2018, offering two weekly rotations.
Wizz Air took of on its launch flight from Riga, Latvia, to Oslo Sandefjord Airport, Norway, on March 13, 2010, as the second European LCC to operate at Riga after Ryanair started its operations in Latvia on October 31, 2004.
The carrier now operates two Airbus A320 aircraft from the Riga base, and with the latest addition of the route to Georgia Wizz Air will be offering flights on 13 routes to nine countries from Riga Airport.
Georgia is already on the route map of airBaltic that performed its first flight from Riga to Georgia's capital Tbilisi on May 3, 2006.
