Feb 08, 2017 (newstodate): Front runner among Russia's five largest cargo-carrying airlines in 2016 was Aeroflot that saw its volumes up by 29.9 percent, y-o-y.
The Aeroflot group lifted a total of 175,505 tonnes during January-December 2016, securing a #2 position on the Top-5 list that in total accounted for 78.7 percent of all cargo on Russian aircraft in 2016.
Topping the list was AirBridgeCargo with 501,365 tonnes in 2016, but down 4.6 percent.
#3 was S7 Sibir with 34,924 tonnes, up 6.5 percent, followed by Volga-Dnepr with 32,897 tonnes, up only 0.5 percent, and finally UTAir with 23,981 tonnes and up 31.8 percent.
In total the Top-5 airlines increased their volumes in 2016 by only 3.3 percent,y-o-y.
The list of Russian airlines carrying cargo comprises 35 carriers that together transported a total of 967,900 tonnes of cargo in 2016, an increase by 6.7 percent.
