Feb 01, 2017 (newstodate): The Polish carrier LOT is firmly back on the growth track and will need more long-haul capacity to meet market demands and expand its global reach.
Already now operating a fleet of six Boeing 787-8 aircraft, the carrier has signed a long-term lease agreement with ACG for three new Boeing 787-9 aircraft.
The aircraft are from ACG's order book commitment with Boeing, and the first aircraft is expected to be delivered to LOT by March 2018.
LOT is poised to become the first European airline with an all-Dreamliner fleet for long-haul operations, and will have up to 25 aircraft in the fleet by 2025.
Sources claim that LOT will launch flights from Warsaw to Los Angeles starting from April 2017, with Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.
In October 2016, LOT also announced the return of services from Warsaw to New York Newark Airport, also from April 2017, and from October 2016, the carrier started flights on a new route between Warsaw and Seoul, in South Korea besides adding new flights to Bangkok and Tokyo.
