Mar 15, 2017 (newstodate): While the volume of main-deck freighter capacity out of Oslo Airport to serve the Norwegian seafood export continues to rise, bringing the seafood on trucks from the production sites to Oslo remains a time-consuming challenge.
At a meeting on February 13, 2017, at Lakselv Airport, between Avinor and seafood industry stakeholders, a decision was finalized to launch a freighter service from Lakselv to Oslo Gardermoen Airport with aircraft capacity provided by DHL that has one Airbus A300F otherwise standing idle at Oslo during daytime.
Originally, the launch of services was scheduled for "late March 2017", but the date has since been revised to April 25, 2017, instead, allowing for time to settle all pertinent issues in connection with the new operation.
The service will initially be offered on Tuesdays connecting to the peak of freighter operations out of Oslo, but more frequencies may be added if warranted by the market.
