Mar 07, 2017 (newstodate): This year's leap day effect and reduced wide-body traffic in Asia left a mark on Finnair Cargo's statistics for February 2017.
A total of 9,736 tonnes of cargo was carried, down 7.7 percent, y-o-y, including 8,392 tonnes on scheduled passenger flights, down 7.1 percent, and 1,345 tonnes, down 11.1 percent, on the three weekly freighter flights between Helsinki and Brussels, operated by DHL.
6,022 tonnes were carried on the Asian flights, down 7.2 percent, another 1,588 tonnes on the European network, down 10.8 percent, while loads on the N Atlantic flights were up 6.2 percent to 649 tonnes.
On the positive side, the decline in ATK's was somewhat out-balanced by a smaller drop in RTK, causing the load factor to increase by 1.8 percentage-point on the Asian lanes and by 5.9 percentage-point on the N Atlantic flights.
During the first two months of this year, Finnair Cargo has seen its total cargo volumes down by 8.5 percent, to 19,473 tonnes.
