Mar 03, 2017 (newstodate): Turkish Cargo is basically very satisfied with the performance of its freighter service at Denmark's Billund Airport.
The carrier launched operations at Billund on April 10, 2016, with one weekly Airbus A310-300F freighter wet-leased from ULS Airlines Cargo, adding a second frequency from early November 2016, shared with Amsterdam on a routing Istanbul-Amsterdam-Billund-Istanbul and operated with Turkish Cargo's own Airbus A330-200F aircraft.
-On the export side, the performance is really good and living up to budgets, but we still have some way to go before the import volumes can be considered satisfactory, says Cem Kavas, Turkish Airlines Regional Cargo Manager Denmark.
-We are indeed working hard on the sales and marketing side to raise the import volumes, but it obviously takes some time to get the markets acquainted with Billund Airport. We are however working on this, strongly supported by Billund Airport itself.
-North Germany remains a target for our Billund-freighter operations as there are huge potentials for main-deck capacity among the large industrial and commercial companies in the Hamburg area, says Mr Kavas.
