Apr 05, 2017 (newstodate): The Latvian carrier airBaltic is bolstering its position as a prime provider of connectivity at Riga Airport.
In 2015, airBaltic accounted for 43 percent of all connections out of Riga to EU cities with over 0.5 million residents, reachable with less than 120 minute transfer at least once every working day.
In 2016, this percentage increased to 57 percent due to the introduction of new destinations as well as frequency increases on many of the carrier's routes.
2017 will probably raise the bar even higher as the carrier introduces new routes from Riga to Abu Dhabi, Geneva, Aberdeen, Stavanger, Gothenburg, Tampere, Catania, Madrid, Odessa, Kazan and Liepaja.
The expansion is also boosted by the delivery of more Bombardier CS300 aircraft of which eight will be in the fleet by the end of this year.
Only on March w1, 2017, the carrier took delivery of its third aircraft of this type.
