Apr 06, 2017 (newstodate): The Sharjah-based low-cost carrier Air Arabia is to make a fresh attempt in the Scandinavian markets in 2017.
Starting from October 3, 2017, the carrier's Moroccan subsidiary will launch flights on the route between Agadir, in Morocco, and Stockholm, offering two weekly rotations with Airbus A320 aircraft.
And prior to that, the carrier will also start flights on the route between Agadir and Copenhagen, also using Airbus A320 aircraft with two weekly rotations.
In both cases, Air Arabia will compete with Norwegian that is already operating on routes to Agadir from Copenhagen, Stockholm and Oslo with Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
From November 4, 2012, Air Arabia's Moroccan JV, Air Arabia Morocco launched non-stop flights between Marrakesh, Morocco, and Billund in Denmark, with a weekly rotation using Airbus A320 aircraft - but suspended services gain after only few flights citing low market demand.
In contrast to most other low-cost carriers, Air Arabia is also active in the airfreight market, carrying freight, mail and courier traffic across the company network now comprising close to 70 destinations.
