Apr 18, 2017 (newstodate): Danish capital has now taken over the stake in the Latvian carrier airBaltic, since February 2016 held by the german investor Ralf Dieter Montag Girmes through his company, Aircraft Leasing 1 SIA, registered in Latvia on December 8, 2014.
Behind the transaction is the Danish national Lars Thuesen, thus expanding his engagement in the airline industry beyond the stake in the Danish carrier Jet Time.
With the take-over of the Latvian investment company, Mr Thuesen now controls the 20 percent of the stake in airBaltic not held by the Latvian state.
After this changing-of-the-guard, the focus remains on airBaltic's efforts to team up with a strategic partner, and/or investor, to secure the carrier's long-term development.
The process has been going on for a long period, but the carrier's CEO, Martin Gauss has claimed that a final solution will be found before the end of this year.
