Apr 28, 2017 (newstodate): The Riga-based, Dutch-owned charter and ACMI carrier SmartLynx has selected GKN Aerospace for the implementation of the ADS-B out modification on the Airbus A320 aircraft fleet.
The implementation of the new system will be permed by the GKN Aerospace Fokker facility that earlier also provided the TCAS 7.1 and EFB Tablet holder solutions to the carrier.
ADS-B out automatically broadcasts relevant data from the aircraft towards air traffic management organizations.
ADS-B out data includes the identity of the aircraft, the GPS location and direction of flight, and the new ADS-B out system will become mandatory in June 2020 in Europe and the USA.
In the fleet of SmartLynx including its Estonian subsidiary are now 10 Airbus A320 aircraft and one A321, and plans are to take delivery starting from May of another two A320 and one A321 aircraft in 2017.
By 2018 the total number of aircraft will go further up to a total of 18.
