Apr 20, 2017 (newstodate): The start of the coming new dedicated freighter service from Lakselv to Oslo Airport has again been postponed.
The first flight has now been rescheduled for May 23, 2017, rather than April 25, 2017, which was the earlier, revised launch date announced.
The new service will provide another important complement to Norway's seafood air logistics as exporters in the country's northern regions will benefit from shorter transportation time from production sites to the ever-growing provision of freighter flights from Oslo Airport.
The uplift on the route between Lakselv and Oslo will be provided by freighter capacity from DHL that has one Airbus A300F otherwise standing idle at Oslo during daytime.
The coming new service will operate on Tuesdays - the weekly peak for seafood exports to the Asian marketplaces.
With Turkish Cargo's second weekly freighter flight launched on Tuesday March 27, 2017, Oslo Gardermoen now has nine freighter operations on Tuesdays, including two by Qatar Cargo, and one each from Emirates SkyCargo, AirBridgeCargo, Cargolux and Korean Air Cargo, in addition to integrator carriers DHL and UPS that also lift volumes of Norwegian seafood exports.
