Apr 21, 2017 (newstodate): This year's Q1 showed a solid gain in passenger volumes through the three international airport under the unified management company Lithuanian Airports.
The country's capital airport, Vilnius Airport saw volumes up by 14 percent, y-o-y, to 834,000 passengers, boosted by the opening of four new destinations from the airport - Grenoble, Gothenburg, Munich and Paris.
The second-largest airport in passenger figures, Kaunas Airport grew its passenger through-put by 15 percent, to 175,000, while the third and smallest airport in Lithuanian Airports, Palanga Airport on the Baltic coast surpassed both by growing no less than 66 percent, y-o-y, to 54,000 passengers.
In March 2017, new routes were launched in Palanga Airport in addition to flights to the existing routes to Copenhagen, London, Riga, and Oslo, including Ryanair's opening of flights to Glasgow in Scotland, and LOT's resumption of flights to Warsaw, Poland.
