May 10, 2017 (newstodate): With the launch of the new freighter service by CAL Cargo Airlines from Oslo to Tel Aviv on May 16, 2017, Oslo Airport will have no less than 10 freighter operations on Tuesdays.
This increase does not, however, pose a challenge in the eyes of Morten Wurgler, Schenker Head of Air Perishables Norway.
-The volumes are here already, being trucked into Gardermoen Airport on Monday night and today palletized to be put on trucks bound for Liege. With the new freighter service, the shipments will instead be placed on aircraft which makes no difference for us, nor forces any change in operations, says Mr Wurgler.
-For the customer it makes a significant change, however, as the shelf life in Israel of the fresh salmon will be extended by one day which boosts the competitive power of the Norwegian products.
Oslo Gardermoen Airport is already handling two freighter operations by Qatar Cargo, two by Turkish Cargo, and one each from Emirates SkyCargo, AirBridgeCargo, Cargolux and Korean Air Cargo, in addition to integrator carriers DHL and UPS - all on Tuesdays.
