May 30, 2017 (newstodate): Planespotters will enjoy a rare sight this summer at Stockholm Arlanda Airport as a new Chinese carrier performs its first-ever landing in Sweden.
Hainan Airlines will thus be visiting Stockholm on July 17, 2017 - but on a single charter flight mission only.
Hopes are, however, rising at Swedavia to catch a larger slice of the traffic from China to Europe, also signaled by the signing of an agreement in 2016 between Swedavia and the Chinese airport operator CAH to launch a sistership between Stockholm Arlanda Airport and Beijing Capital International Airport.
Stockholm Arlanda Airport is the only Nordic airport served by a Chinese carrier, Air China now offering daily rotations on the route from Beijing and celebrating its 30th anniversary of unbroken services on the route in 2018.
