May 09, 2017 (newstodate): The smell of Norwegian seafood has again tempted a freighter carrier to launch services at Oslo Airport.
Starting from May 16, 2017, CAL Cargo Airlines will operate a weekly Boeing 747-400F to carry seafood export shipments from Oslo to Tel Aviv, Israel.
Rather unnoticed, Tel Aviv ranks 10th on the list of markets for Norwegian seafood by air from Oslo Airport, with around 8,000 tonnes per week in 2016.
The operation will be performed on Tuesdays that remains the single most important day of departure from Oslo, bringing shipments to the world's market places in time for weekend consumption.
Already operating from Oslo Airport on Tuesdays are Turkish Cargo's two weekly freighter flights alongside two by Qatar Cargo, and one each from Emirates SkyCargo, AirBridgeCargo, Cargolux and Korean Air Cargo, in addition to integrator carriers DHL and UPS that also lift volumes of Norwegian seafood exports.
