May 12, 2017 (newstodate): As planned, the Latvian charter and ACMI carrier SmartLynx has now taken delivery of two additional Airbus A320 aircraft.
Sourced on a 4,5-year contract and joining the SmartLynx fleet by the beginning of May 2017 is one A320 leased from CIT Aerospace International which was acquired by the Avalon Group in January 2017.
SmartLynx Airlines is now wet-leasing the aircraft to EasyJet, providing additional capacity for them at their London Gatwick base until October 28, 2017.
Another A320 has been leased from Magnetic MRO AS by SmartLynx's Estonian subsidiary SmartLynx Airlines Estonia.
This aircraft has now been placed on a wet-lease contract with TUI Airlines Belgium N.V till October 1, 2017, and is based at Brussels Airport.
The two new Airbus A320 aircraft brings SmarLynx's fleet to a total of 13 aircraft including 12 Airbus A2320 and two Airbus A321 aircraft.
The aircraft deliveries were, however, delayed forcing SmartLynx to temporarily lease Airbus A320 capacity from Danish carrier DAT and Bulgarian carrier Bulgarian Air.
