Jun 13, 2017 (newstodate): Finnair remains deeply focused on getting everything in place for a hopefully smooth operational debut of the coming new Cool Terminal at Helsinki Airport.
-The opening for operations will happen in a slightly phased approach and the timetable is just being finalized so hopefully we can release it later this month, says Milla Nyholm, Finnair Cargo Marketing Manager.
-The UAT, user acceptance tests, of the operative systems are currently underway, and after that we will move to the ISAT -integrated site acceptance test- phase, which will ensure that the warehouse automation systems work well together with our cargo management system, SkyChain.
-Before transitioning our operations to the new COOL Nordic Cargo Hub we also need to train our Cargo Operations staff and the local customers and RFS partners in regard to the new procedures to be introduced there, says Ms Nyholm.
Originally slated for spring 2017, the opening of the new cargo terminal was later rescheduled for "autumn 2017", probably also drawing on the lessons from Finnair Cargo's implementation of its new CMS system SkyChain on December 1, 2016, which proceeded not without unforeseen difficulties and teething troubles that caused severe snags in the pre-Christmas peak production and a drastic fall in cargo volumes during the first period.
