Jun 06, 2017 (newstodate): Plans are advancing for the construction of Iran's first new dedicated air cargo complex at the country's national airport.
On 27 May, 2017, Tehran Imam Khomeini Airport City signed an agreement with the Dutch company NACO and the Swiss company adi Consulting GmbH.
Within the coming two to three months, the Swiss company will work out its project plans, including investments and guarantees, to NACO, the company in charge of the entire airport city project.
The three parties expect to have a firm agreement in place before March 2018 and construction works will start thereafter.
In 2016, Tehran Imam Khomeini Airport handled 120,000 tonnes of cargo, up 8.7 percent, y-o-y, including freight on weekly all-cargo operations by Turkish Cargo and Qatar Airways Cargo.
