Jun 07, 2017 (newstodate): As a number of Gulf states have blocked the use of their airspace to Qatar Airlines, Norwegian seafood exporters are watching closely.
Qatar Airways has been online at Oslo Gardermoen Airport with passenger flights since October 5, 2011, adding freighter services from January 29, 2013.
The carrier is now operating five weekly freighters at Oslo Airport, seasonally going up to as many as 10-11 flights depending on market demands.
-The current crisis may hurt the Norwegian seafood air logistics severely, says Knut Eriksmoen, Schenker Head of Air & Ocean Freight.
-Both Qatar Airways and Emirates are crucial providers to Norway's exports of fresh seafood, and if the crisis sticks Qatar Airways will have severe problems in its handling of the traffic.
-We are of course following developments closely and planning for alternative solutions, says Mr Eriksmoen.
According to Morten Wurgler, Schenker AS Head of Air Perishables, Gardermoen, traffic was, however, still running as normal - at least on Tuesday.
Also yesterday, Martin Langaas, Avinor Diretor Air Cargo, confirmed to newstodate that he had not so far been informed of any changes.
