Jun 27, 2017 (newstodate): With the annoucement of the new freighter service by Turkish Cargo between Istanbul and Riga, in Latvia, the carrier is again expanding its presence in the Nordic and Baltic airfreight markets.
Starting from July 1, 2017, Turkish Cargo will be operating two weekly rotations with Airbus A330-200F to Riga Airport as its first scheduled Baltic freighter destination.
Since October 30, 2011, THY Cargo has been routing an Airbus A310F freighter from Moscow via Stockholm Arlanda to Istanbul on the return leg of the operation between Istanbul and Moscow, now operated three times weekly.
Serving Finland, Turkish Cargo has been operating two freighter rotations at Helsinki Airport since December 2011, adding a third rotation in June 2016.
In the Danish market, Turkish Cargo started a freighter service from April 10, 2016, increasing to two weekly flights from October 2016.
Attracted by the Norwegian seafood exports, Turkish Cargo started its first freighter operation to Oslo Airport in Norway on Fridays on March 10, 2017, adding a second weekly freighter flight on Tuesdays from March 29, 2017, in both cases using Airbus A330-200F freighters.
In addition to this, Turkish Cargo is also operating a third flight into Oslo Airport from June 4, 2017, driven by Norwegian imports of fruit as a charter operation so far scheduled for "a few months" only.
