Aug 02, 2017 (newstodate): In May 2017, Air India announced the launch of flights to Scandinavia, starting out with flights from Delhi to Stockholm from August 15, and following up with flights to Copenhagen starting from September 16, 2017.
With only two weeks to go, the two launch flights are indeed bookable on Air India's website - but so far Air India seems not to have set up any organization in either Sweden or Denmark to handle sales, passenger or aircraft servicing.
Puzzled by the silence around the opening of the new routes, rumors abound that Air India may be reconsidering the entire Scandinavian venture, consider a triangular routing instead of two direct and separate routes, recuring from three to two weekly rotations on each route, axing the route to Copenhagen - or cancelling the entire affair.
Fueling the rumors are the facts that Air India has now finally been put on the sales market for international or national private investors after a decade in the red, while efforts to sell a number of subsidiaries have also already been started.
