Aug 08, 2017 (newstodate): Finnair continued a sound growth trend in July 2017, with total cargo volumes rising 8.8 percent, y-o-y.
A total of 14,058 tonnes of cargo was carried, including 12,499 tonnes on scheduled passenger flights and another 1,559 tonnes on the three weekly freighter flights between Helsinki and Brussels, operated by DHL, as well as cargo space rented on Japan Airlines' daily flights between Tokyo and Helsinki.
The increase in volumes in July was driven primarily by the main Chinese destinations, Hong Kong, Japan, Norway and Finland, with Asian traffic alone accounting for 9,372 tonnes, an increase by 15 percent.
During January-July 2017, Finnair Cargo generated a total of 86,369 tonnes of cargo, an increase by 2.9 percent, of which 54,837 tonnes were Asian loads, an increase by 4.5 percent, y-o-y.
