Aug 17, 2017 (newstodate): A new Hungarian carrier will take to the skies from winter 2017: Ronan Air.
Ronan Air will be based at Budapest Airport with "aims to be the leading modern carrier in Europe and to be at the forefront of innovation and technology with a forward thinking, progressive attitude to the industry", if words on its website live up to expectations.
Behind the new airline project is a business conglomerate Ronan International, comprising also Ronan Centre, Ronan Air Holidays, LankAir and finally the Ceyhaus Trading and headed by its Chairman, Rohan Nanayakkara.
The headquarters of the R Group established in 1945 is at Colombo, Sri Lanka, and other offices are found in Baku, Azerbaijan and Toronto, Canada.
In a first phase, Ronan Air plans to launch flights from Budapest to Kaliningrad and Vilnius, Debrecen and Constanta, Split and Tivat, Bern and Lugano, and Bremen and Leipzig.
The carrier will have a fleet of ATR72-500/600 aircraft and is currently recruiting flight crews.
