Aug 14, 2017 (newstodate): Not surprisingly, Lithuania's Kaunas Airport experienced a strong increase in cargo volumes in July 2017.
The reason is obvious: Kaunas Airport took over the traffic at the capital airport of Vilnius during the major runway reconstruction works that shifted traffic away from Vilnius.
Kaunas Airport thus saw volumes up by 171.95 percent, y-o-y, in July 2017, to a total of 433.55 tonnes.
With this boost, the airport's January-July cargo volumes were up by 99.62 percent, to 1,816 tonnes.
But apart from the extraordinary conditions in July 2017, the airport has actually seen its cargo volumes up month by month, expect for February that was a dip by 1.88 percent.
