Aug 21, 2017 (newstodate): The new Russian regional carrier Azimuth Airlines is now getting close to launch of flights.
On August 20, 2017, the carrier obtained its AOC from Rosaviatsia, the Russian authority and is now planing for launch of flights in September 2017, one month behind the earlier schedule.
Starting out with four Superjet 100 aircraft in the fleet, Azimuth Airlines will have a staff of 280 people on the roster, and plans to grow to a total of 12 Superjet 100 aircraft, with orders to be placed in 2019.
The home base of the new airline to serve a network of some 20 destinations will be the new green-field airport named Rostov-on-Don Platov Airport currently under construction for the 2018 World Cup and aiming for a role in connecting flights between Asia, the CIS and Europe.
