Sep 18, 2017 (newstodate): The Star Alliance member-airline Air India is now online in the Danish market with the first flight between Delhi and Copenhagen on September 16, 2017.
The Boeing 787-8 aircraft was operated by an all-female cockpit crew and the route is now served three times weekly as is also the case with the route from Delhi to Stockholm, allowing the carrier to offer six weekly flights between India and Copenhagen.
Air India has contracted SGH to provide ground handling at Copenhagen Airport while cargo handling has been contracted to WFS.
Besides passenger transportation, the new Air India route also brings new cargo capacity to the market with sales temporarily entrusted to the cargo GSSA ProActive Airline Services, pending the outcome of the ongoing tender process for a GSSA contract.
And cargo seems to be of importance for Air India:
-The cargo booking till now looks promising and it will particularly help in transporting flowers between the two countries, Air India Chairman and Managing Director Rajiv Bansal told the Indian paper the Hindu at the launch event.
