Sep 28, 2017 (newstodate): After only 10 months of operations, Cargolux retreated its freighter service at Oslo Airport from last week, leaving its customers to truck shipments into the hub at Luxembourg.
The weekly Boeing 777F call at Oslo Airport by Cargolux started from November 1, 2016, flying in from New York and continuing to Luxembourg with connections to the carrier's global freighter network.
The decision to suspend services was not driven by market considerations, however.
-It is purely a technical issue: Cargolux simply lacks the aircraft capacity to continue the routing of the freighter through Oslo Airport, says Gerard ter Bruggen, Cargolux Regional Director Cargolux Airlines.
-We remain committed to serving the Norwegian seafood exporters with the existing trucking routes, so the situation is not really that changed.
-Whether we return a freighter service to Oslo or not will depend on the availability of aircraft capacity, so it is impossible at this point in time to say anything about a future re-opening of the flight, says Mr ter Bruggen.
