Sep 21, 2017 (newstodate): Starting from 2018, Icelandair will start taking delivery of its new fleet of Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.
The first three aircraft will be delivered during the first three months of the year and the three aircraft following in Q1, 2019, followed by another four 737-8 and two 737-9 aircraft in 2019.
In 2020, the carrier will receive four Boeing 737-9 and one 737-8, to be followed by another two 737-9 in 2021.
Icelandair has secured a sale-lease back agreement with a Chinese company comprising the first four Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.
Behind the transaction is the Chinese BOCOMM Leasing, a subsidiary of the Bank of Communications in China, and the agreement covers nine years.
Sources claim that the carrier is also to acquire one Boeing 757-300 aircraft in 2018.
