Sep 13, 2017 (newstodate): Latvia and China are in talks over a strengthened cooperation in issues of commercial air services.
On September 12, 2017, Latvia's Minister of Transportation met with a delegation from Air China's European Bureau to discuss opportunities for cooperation between Air China and Latvia's air traffic service providers.
The Latvian minister pointed out that China and Latvia are moving towards closer co-operation in the field of aviation, including providing good opportunities for cooperation in the field of investment, passenger and freight transport, regular/seasonal and charter flights, as well as postal and e-commerce and freight logistics centers at Riga airport.
The General Manager of Air China's European Bureau said that she sees potential for cooperation with airBaltic, as airBaltic's hub is ideally located for European routes.
-Air China must first consider co-operation models such as code-share or interline agreements, to prepare for the future setup of direct flights, she said.
Air China operates 27 routes from China to 14 European countries, with Stockholm as its only destinaiton in the Nordic and Baltic region.
