Sep 19, 2017 (newstodate): Passenger volumes through Iceland's Keflavik Airport were up 32.4 percent, y-o-y, during the first eight months of 2017.
A total of 5,954,761 passengers were thus handled at the airport, which is almost fully in line with Isavia's prognosis for the period.
Summer 2017 was also exceptional as for the first time in history, over one million passengers went through the airport in one month. This happened in July and again in August.
The total number of passengers through Keflavik Airport is expected to be in the range of 8.7-8.8 million in 2017, which would be an increase by 28 percent, y-o-y.
Isavia has been hard pressed to meet the challenges in passenger growth as the airport's capacity ceiling poses a restraint on operations.
