Nov 13, 2018 (newstodate): The Chinese carrier Juneyao Airlines is, as reported earlier, planning for opening flights on the route connecting Shanghai and Helsinki, in Finland.
If realized, the flights are scheduled to commence from June 2019, with three weekly rotations using Boeing 787-9 aircraft.
According to Finnish media reports, Juneyao Airlines is now in talks with Finnair over cooperation concerning both passenger and cargo, currently working on a MoU.
Juneyao Airlines will be entering the route operated by Finnair since September 2004 and today served with daily flights.
While Finnair is member of the oneworld airline alliance, Juneyao Airlines formally sealed a strategic partnership to become a "Connecting Partner" of the Star Alliance in 2017.
It remains to be seen how the coming new Chinese/Finnish partnership will develop under the aegis of the two competing airline alliances.
